Introduction:

Silk fibroin solution appears light yellow, with impurities (heavy metals, salts and reducing substance) being detected and controlled.

The product is manufactured in a manner to maximally preserve the molecular weight and structure of natural regenerated silk fibroin (α-helix or random coil structure) due to its processing under mild conditions without use of any strong acid and alkali. It also has a low bioburden and can be provided as a sterilized solution that can be readily used for material processing in a sterile environment.

Applications:

When the silk fiber is solubilized into an aqueous fibroin solution, it can be used as a basic material for preparing different silk fibroin materials such as gels, bio-scaffolds, nano/microspheres, membranes, as well as porous scaffolds for tissue engineering studies. It can also be used as an additive of protein in cell culture medium.
